Scientifically proven natural mosquito repellent
UPDATE May 2019 - please note this product has had a formula update since being originally published.
Let's face it, mozzies are annoying at best. At worst, they carry and spread disease. They buzz and bite and make you itchy. Sometimes, however, mosquitos can carry viruses and disease that can make you sick for a very long time. Ross River Fever is just one example. If you live in an area prone to mosquito spreading disease, it's vital you protect yourself. For everyone else, it's just a really great idea.
For those with chemical sensitivities, using commercial insect repellents with chemicals like deet just aren't an option. This week we're pleased to have a new addition to our natural insect repellent category with scientifically proven results. Bug Grrr Off! is an Australian made product formulated without DEET. The hero ingredient in the formula is called PMD (or REPELLINâ„¢). PMD is an acid modified extract of Australian Lemon Scented Eucalyptus. For those sensitive to citronella, which is one of the essential oils commonly used in in natural insect repellents, this formula is a citronella free zone.
Along with the PMD, you'll find essential oils of Lavender, Sandalwood and Chamomile, and despite the more gentle aroma over other brands, the PMD makes it one of the hardest working products on the market, and it has been scientifically tested.
Two different ways to apply
Bug Grrr Off! comes in two different application types. While they can be used by anyone, for easiest application, use the spray on your limbs (for coverage of larger areas) and for the face, use a roll-on. If spraying the face, be sure to close your eyes and hold your breath as you spray so you don't inhale. While the product is natural, the essential oils are NOT designed to be consumed. For babies, we recommend the use of the roll-on application.
Two different strengths
In the same way our natural deodorant by Erica Brooke has a regular and a double strength, so too does the Bug Grrr Off! repellent. The regular version contains 50mg per gram of PMD with a protection period of approx 2 hours. The JUNGLE STRENGTH version is actually a triple strength. The formula contains double the amount of PMD at 100mg per gram and has been rated to work for up to 6 hours.
Who can use it?
Bug Grrr Off! is safe for anyone 12 months and over, but we do recommend patch testing on young children and sensitive adults before applying to the whole body. In Aussie summers, and through the cooler months too, especially in the tropics, always remember your sunscreen for the daytime and your repellent for when the sun goes down.
