If you have been using a mainstream lipstick, there's a pretty good chance you've been eating your fair share of parabans, formaldehyde and possibly lead. Just this month, Revlon announced that after receiving a petition with 10,000 signatures on it, they decided to reformulate their lipstick by removing two long-chain parabens and a formaldehyde releasing chemical from their lipstick (read article here). It's unclear what's left in it, as the new formula ingredients are unknown, but it's not necessary to use petrochemicals to make an amazing lipstick.

We have both natural and organic lipstick in store from many brands including Ere Perez, Zuii Organics, Lavera, La Mav and more. Each brand has its unique formulation of natural ingredients to make the lipsticks nourishing as well as bold and colourful.

ERE PEREZ have an extensive range of not only lipstick, but also tinted lip balms, multi purpose cheek & lip tints and natural coloured nourishing lip bars with a hint of colour. Ere Perez highlight a number of different foods in their ingredients, and in particular, oils that are perfectly safe to eat. They include macadamia oil, olive oil and carrot oil. Their lip liner uses sesame oil.

ZUII ORGANIC also have an impressive range of lip products. Not only do they have 18 shades of lipstick in some of the most vivid colours we've seen in the natural and organic lipstick market, they also have a range of innovative and fashionable products including a satin lip colour that goes on from a tube like a gloss but dries like a matt lipstick. Their lip products include ingredients such as sunflower oil, castor oil, beeswax and a host of other certified organic ingredients that are nourishing to the lips. Their lip liner pencils feature similar oils and shea butter as core ingredients. Not convinced? The Zuii Organic lipsticks are available to purchase as a sample, packed direct from the factory.

Most natural and organic lipsticks are affordable considering the frequency in which they need to be bought. The Lavera starts at $22.95 and we go through to some of the premium Zuii products at $31.50. To get absolute value for money, when you get down to the very end of your lipstick and you can't use it anymore, scrape out the portion that's left behind, mix it with a little coconut oil, pop it in a little pot and you have yourself a free pot of lip gloss when you normally would have just thrown it away.

Beyond just lipstick, you can visit our mineral makeup category for a full range of natural and certified organic beauty products and when you want to protect and nourish your lips without any colour, we have a selection of natural and certified organic lip balms in our organic skin care section.
