One of the things I love about this industry is small passionate brands spending time to develop truly amazing products. There's no cost benefit analysis, there's no-one with a calculator sitting at the top of the food chain, there's no-one saying the demand isn't there and to just not do it. What you have is, like us, a  small business owner with passion who will just stop and make a decision and get it done. They will also get on the phone with you for an hour and talk about their product so you know how to pass on the correct information to your customers.

This is how THE best natural sunscreen came in to the market, from Danielle Glover, a trained Pharmacist and founder of Simple As That just going back and tweaking and reformulating to get it right.  The same passion and dedication has been put in  to the vegan broth that has just been released in to the market.

Simple As That Organic Vegan Broth is a collaboration between the Naturopath who counded the Greene St Juice Co and the Pharmacist who founded Simple As That, which is actually a natural skin care brand. Since beauty begins on the inside, these two ladies put their heads together to come up with a vegan broth that would work on skin health as well as gut health, supporting energy boosting, the immune system and some adaptogens to help balance hormones.

What's in the Simple As That Organic Vegan Broth?

It's a base of brown rice protein powder with some ingredients for flavour and other ingredients for their therapeutic benefits. The flavour ingredients make this broth unsuitable for those on the FODMAP diet, but we do have dehydrated bone broth powder for them that's suitable. They are onion powder, garlic powder, pink salt, nutritional yeast, ginger powder, black pepper and lemon peel. While a couple of those do hold 'food as medicine' status, it is the next set of ingredients that truly shine.

Chia seeds, sea vegetables, turmeric powder, maca powder, shitake mushrooms, broccoli sprout powder, reishi mushroom and spirulina. The maca and the reishi are adaptogens, meaning they help your body adapt to stressors. Maca is widely reported to assist with hormonal health in both men and women. Reishi is known to be an adaptogen for immune system support. Turmeric is best absorbed by the body with black pepper and some fat and heat, so adding this in to a warm soup with a little good quality fat in it is perfect.

How do you use the broth?

As a health and beauty tonic, simply dissolve in to some warm water and sip like a herbal tea. Instead of making a morning coffee, why not use that reusable coffee cup you own to make some broth to sip on the run. For more relaxed parts of your day, add it to soups, as the base for a casserole, put it in with pasta or rice or quinoa, spike your risotto with it. The uses are endless. It can be a flavour base for any number of dishes where stock is traditionally used.
