This week we had a customer ask us an interesting question about mineral makeup. Is it natural?

The answer to this question really does depend on the brand you pick. Anything from our store is safe. We love the natural makeup brand Ere Perez and it's a great price.

There are many mainstream mineral makeup brands, and many who sell their products via infomercials and free product giveaways, while some are natural, they're not all natural and it really does pay to do your research. I will break down the classification and compare it to our organic products to help you see the comparison.

While products that are called mineral makeup may have natural minerals in them, they may not be the only ingredients. Let's compare brands and their ingredients.

Brand 2 - Natio

A brand most people think is natural, but we were surprised and a little shocked at this one. We took a look at their BB Cream. The first ingredient is water. The second is propylene glycol, which we don't allow in our store. They also have phenoxyethanol, which we allow in very small amounts at the end of the ingredient list, but it's only 1/3 of the way up. This is definitely NOT natural.

The full list is Aqua (Water), Propylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Triethanolamine, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Phenoxyethanol, Alumina, Dimethicone, Lecithin, Caprylyl Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol Stearate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter Extract, Sorbitan Laurate, Phenylpropanol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Styrax Benzoin Gum, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Propylene Glycol Laurate, Alcohol, Matricaria Recutita (Chamomile) Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid. May contain: Titanium Dioxide CI 77891, Mica CI 77019, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77861.

In comparison, the Lavera BB Cream has Water (Aqua), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Alcohol*, Glycerin, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Lauryl Laurate, Myristyl Myristate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil*, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lactobacillus/ Salix Alba Bark Ferment Filtrate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Xylitylglucoside, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract*, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil*, Anhydroxylitol, Sodium Lactate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tricaprylin, Glucose Glutamate, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Xanthan Gum, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Lysolecithin, Lecithin, Bisabolol, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Silica, Magnesium Silicate, Mica, Xylitol, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Algin, Tocopherol, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tin Oxide, Fragrance (Parfum)**, Linalool**, Limonene**, Geraniol**, Citronellol**, Citral**, Benzyl Benzoate**

Which would you prefer on your skin?

------------

Your powders are less likely to contain ingredients that aren't natural than liquids, but you should check ingredients. Everything in our store has been checked and we do not have any mineral makeup in store with any type of chemical preservative in it.

The skin care comparison is that a product contains organic ingredients, but it does not mean that the product as a whole is organic and that it doesn't contain some chemicals in it. For completely natural beauty products, it's best to purchase organic skin care that has been certified by a recognised governing body. They're all clearly marked in our store.

Alternatively, you can ask us about purchasing 100% natural skin care with no chemical preservatives. The best brand in store for that are Acure Organics - we welcome all pre-sales enquiries to ensure you're getting the products you want.
