Kester Black has been on the market since 2014 and in our store not long after that. The term natural nail polish is an interesting one, because it's one of those products that just can't be made with only natural ingredients, but it can be made a whole lot safer by stripping out the worst of the ingredients traditionally used in nail polish. There has never been a decent working water based nail polish. Scotch Naturals were in the ballpark a few years ago, but it was quite the 'regime' to get it on and we still got complaints about it not staying on for very long. They are no longer in business.

The evolution of 3-FREE to 10-FREE

Way back in 2014 we wrote a blog post about the difference between 3-Free and 5-Free. 3-Free polish leaves out Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Formaldehyde. The 5-Free polish also removes the Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor.

Kester Black entered the market as a 5-Free polish. They have since evolved in to the FIRST Water Permeable polish made in Australia and the only 10-Free™ polish. Anyone still referring to Kester Black as a 5-Free polish is seriously out of date and are misrepresenting the brand. Sadly we have seen someone still doing this and we wanted to set the record straight with factual information. Kester Black has been 10-Free™ for quite some time. Anyone still calling it 5-Free is either sitting on very old stock that they cant' sell or they have another motive.

What is 10-FREE™

10-Free™ nail polish does not contain formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor, formaldehyde resin, xylene, parabens, fragrances, phthalates and animal derived or tested ingredients. Kester Black has also never used ingredients ethyl tosylamide, triphenyl phosphate or xylene.
