Today we're taking an 'up close and personal' look at the Camelbak Groove water bottle. The unique feature for the Groove that sets it apart from the rest of the Camelbak water bottle range is the inclusion of a water filter so you can filter your drinking water on the go.

The Camelbak Groove is 600ml in size and is available in both the BPA Free Tritan version (the pink & the green above are examples of two colours) and also as a stainless steel water bottle (there's a silver one hiding in the back and also a painted one available in white). We pulled the pink one apart so you could see how they operate in more detail. Like the Camelbak Eddy range, they feature a straw and a bite valve that folds away when not in use (it's folded away on the two plastic bottles and standing up ready for drinking on the stainless steel bottle in the rear). The major difference is the straw, which contains a larger housing for the water filter cartridge.

In this next shot, we have dismantled the lid & the straws in to three pieces. You simply remove the filter cartridge from the packet, and insert it in to the pink housing (pictured in the middle). Attach the clear straw to the bottom of it and then screw it in to the under side of the lid. Once this is done, fill the bottle up with tap water and screw the lid back on. Please note, the water needs to be potable (ie: drinkable) and cannot be bacteria riddled water from a dirty creek. For that, you need a purifier, and Camelbak make one of those too.

In the last photo, the filter is in place and the lid / straw components are assembled, ready for the lid to be attached back to the bottle.
