Bamboo toothbrushes are something people either love or hate. For some the feel (or even the taste) of the brush in their mouth is not pleasant, for others they are the perfect eco friendly alternative to plastic supermarket toothbrushes. Here we are going to give you a few options and a quick explanation of some of the tooth brushes in our store including our bamboo toothbrush options.

Go Bamboo 100% Biodegradable Bamboo Toothbrush

The Go Bamboo toothbrush (shown above) comes in adult and child sizes. The handle is made of natural bamboo (not a bamboo laminate) sealed with an edible wax. The bristles are soft to medium stiffness, dual length, sharpened bristle, made from Nylon 4 (see below for further information), and they clean your teeth really well. The toothbrush comes packaged in a sealed recycled cardboard box.
** Is Nylon 4 biodegradable? - Nylon 4 is a synthetic polymer, that has been shown to be vulnerable to bacterial activity specifically Pseudomonas strain ND-11. In activated sludge (sewage) or compost, nylon 4 breaks down in about 3-4 months.

Sizes available - Adult or Child
Disposing of your toothbrush - Stick it in the compost and it will go eventually. A favorite method to date is to nail it vertically into the lawn, gone! No guilt disposal!

Bodecare Biodegradable Bamboo Charcoal Infused Toothbrush

Bodecare, who we know from the dry body brush we've been selling for years, now have biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes with charcoal infused bristles for an even better clean than a regular toothbrush. Both the bamboo handle and the bristles will break down in your compost or garden when you're finished with them. Available in Soft or Medium with handles sized that they're suitable for children or adults.

The handles are made with sustainable bamboo and can break down once you're finished with them. The bristles are made from nylon which is charcoal infused, which assists with the cleaning process. Customers say that the charcoal infused bristles give a superior clean. This brush is the perfect hybrid of both the other bamboo brushes in store and the plastic brushes with the charcoal infused.

Use this as you would any regular toothbrush. With regular brushing, dentists recommend replacing toothbrushes every 1 to 3 months, depending on wear & tear. Once you're done with your brush, put it in your compost or bury it in your garden and it will decompose down in to the soil. Let nature and the worms do their job!

Keeko Binchotan Charcoal Toothbrush - Medium Black

The Keeko Binchotan Charcoal Toothbrush has Japanese Ubame Oak binchotan charcoal embedded in to every nylon bristle on the brush. This activated charcoal acts as a natural dedodoriser, helps prevent bad breath, remove plaque, creates negative ions and prevents harmful bacteria growing in the brush in between uses.

Activated charcoal is also traditionally used to purify drinking water and clean air. Users of this toothbrush report teeth feeling cleaner and their breath smelling fresher. Use with your favourite natural toothpaste, or if you've run out or you're travelling, it can be used on its own.  Both the handle and the nylon bristles are BPA free.  Shown above, center.

There are plenty of other options in our natural dental care category so next week we will share some more for you! You might want to check out the toothpaste from Dr Bronner.
