What makes condoms vegan?

There are many products on the market that people assume are automatically vegan, and for many people, condoms fall into that category. What many people don’t know is that the majority of latex condom manufacturing uses casein to soften the latex. Casein is a protein found in cow’s milk and it is used in the processing of latex. Vegan condoms can still be made using latex, but they are softened without the use of this animal protein.
