Grants Toothpaste
Grants toothpaste was founded in 1984 and is one of the original brands in Australia making natural toothpaste without fluoride. Grants toothpaste is gentle oral care free from harsh ingredients like SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate, triclosan, parabens, propylene glycol, artificial colours and artificial sweeteners like aspartame). While most of the range is still fluoride free, the market in Australia has moved in the direction that many natural toothpaste brands are making a small offering with their natural toothpaste formulas with the addition of low levels of fluoride. They are clearly marked if you still wish to avoid it.
There is a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, a mild mint and fresh mint for fresh breath using different mint oil options and natural herbs, natural ingredients and kids toothpaste with kid friendly berry flavours, mouthwash and toothbrushes with bamboo handles.
Grants also have a bamboo toothbrush in their range, including Ultra Soft Charcoal, Soft and Medium for adults and Ultra Soft for the kids. The thing that makes them stand out is the bristles are made from 62% castor oil, giving a much lower nylon content while still working well and not wearing out too quickly, plus the internal 'plastic bag' protecting your brush is actually biodegradable plant based material, so you can bury it in your garden or put it in the compost.
What ingredients do Grants Toothpaste use?
Xylitol for its antibacterial properties to help prevent tooth decay, calcium carbonate to help neutralise plaque acids, aloe vera (also known as aloe barbadensis leaf juice) for soothing and healing, baking soda as a natural whitener and removing stains without damaging the surface of your teeth, potassium chloride for reducing dental nerve pain and a unique natural herbal extract for great taste, freshness and clean mouth feeling.
Grants Toothpaste do not use genetically modified ingredients or mineral oils.
Does Grants Toothpaste have fluoride in it?
A limited number of formulas contain fluoride. After many requests, in 2020, Grants added a fluoride version to their range in the Fresh Mint flavour and in 2021, a low fluoride version of the kids blueberry flavour. In 2024, the new formula called Complete Care also contains fluoride in the form of Sodium Monofluorophospate as the active ingredient at 0.76% of the formula. We feel strongly about leaving the decision to choose whether to use fluoride in toothpaste to each individual consumer and we are happy to be working with a brand who feel the same way and offer consumers a choice.
Is Grants Toothpaste Gluten Free?
The Grants Toothpaste range does not contain any ingredients that have gluten in them.
Is Grants Toothpaste Vegan?
The Grants Propolis toothpaste contains Propolis Extract and is not vegan. The rest of the range is vegan.
Is Grants Toothpaste good value for money?
Absolutely. It's one of the most affordable natural dental products on the market and sits alongside big brands in the supermarket and competes with them on price. We carry the full range where many supermarkets will only have 1 or 2 options available.
