Using a primer in your natural makeup regime isn't something that's done by everyone, and it's certainly not a necessary step, but using a primer certainly does have its benefits.

What does makeup primer do?

Primer lays an even surface for your foundation to be applied to. They are best suited to dry to normal skin types and are more important for people with dry skin than any other skin type.  By applying a primer underneath your foundation, you also improve the staying power of your makeup which can also be particularly helpful for applying eye shadow. Benecos even have a dedicated eye shadow base for this very task, but you can do it with an all over face primer as well.

Dedicated primer vs multi-tasker

We have a dedicated primer from organic skin care manufacturer La Mav, which is infused with vitamin C, Rosehip oil and Hyaluronic Acid, which it shares in common with the primer from Inika. Both of these primers are certified organic and 50ml in size. If you want to test them, we do have testers for the Inika Primer in each of the Foundation Trial Packs and also Face In A Box. The Inika Primer is also boosted with essential oils of Lavender, Lemon Myrtle and Bergamot to assist with hydration alongside the Hyaluronic Acid.

For the multi-taskers, and particularly helpful in summer, there are two natural sunscreen products in store that work well as a makeup primer. Both the Eco Sunscreen Face and the new Wotnot Anti-Aging Natural Face Sunscreen are a suitable base for your makeup and will provide SPF30 protection.
